Today Jenn and I went to the farmers market at the Ferry Building in San Francisco. I had never been but had heard good things about it. Soon after we got there, I headed over to one of the stands to look at some beets. As I deliberated between red and gold beets, I saw what I thought was a familiar face inspecting these culinary gems. I wasn’t positive so I scurried away to an unobtrusive corner and Googled “Chris Cosentino”. Sure enough it was him. I told Jenn of my discovery. She didn’t know who he was but could tell I was excited. I asked her to try and get his picture without him noticing. She kept insisting that we go up to him, but I was too starstruck and insisted she just take a covert picture. Unbeknownst to me she went up to him, asked if he was a famous chef, told him her wife was a cook, and asked if he would take a picture with me.
I was hiding out at the next stand when I heard her call my name. The next thing I knew, I was getting my picture taken with Top Chef Masters winner and offal aficionado Chris Cosentino. He was really nice and gracious. I’m so glad that Jenn didn’t listen to me and arranged for us to meet. It was an awesome to start to an awesome day!
